Summer has passed for a month and it’s time for us to sweat like crazy.
So today we are going to talk about chat silk.
Tencel = Lyocell?
First of all, I would like to ask everyone, in your impression, do you often wear Tencel? Equivalent to Lyocell?
Simply put, Tencel is a trademark and Lyocell is a fiber.
Therefore, Tencel also contains other fibers besides lyocell.

TENCEL™ is the brand name of Lyocell fiber. In addition to Lyocell fiber, TENCEL™ also includes Lenzing-Lyocell from Lenzing Company and Newcel [Lyocell (filament type)] from AKZO Company.

In addition, Lenzing also has a fabric, which is the Modal we talked about in the last issue.
In China, it is customary to call Lyocell fiber “Tencel”, but the public label for washing is “Lyocell fiber”.

Some merchants will sell modal or viscose as lyocell, so everyone must be careful when purchasing. Quasi-fibrous composition.
Not only that, some merchants are opportunistic and label it as 100% regenerated cellulose fiber. There is nothing wrong with it in terms of broad categories. Lyocell is a regenerated fiber.
However, there is more than one type of regenerated fiber: Lyocell, so the washing label must indicate that it is Lyocell fiber.

Pros and Cons of Tencel
From the perspective of fiber history, lyocell, modal, and viscose are all new fibers.
The 1st generation of wood pulp fiber – Viscose
The 2nd generation of wood pulp fiber – Modal
3rd generation wood pulp fiber – Lyocell

Like modal fiber, lyocell is also made from wood, which is made from coniferous tree pulp.
In the wet state, Lyocell fiber is the first cellulose fiber whose wet strength is much better than cotton.

Lyocell will explode after being ignited with a lighter. This is because Tencel fiber is purer and more flammable.

Lyocell has the “comfort” of cotton, the “strength” of polyester, and the “luxurious beauty” of wool fabric The “unique touch” and “soft drape” of silk are extremely tough whether in a dry or wet state.

However, Lyocell fabric is easy to snag, so you need to be careful when wearing it.
In terms of washing, Lyocell fabrics should be hand washed at low temperature, avoid wringing, and can only be dried in the shade and not exposed to the sun.
