The reasons why T-shirts are rolled:
1. Most T-shirts are made of knitted fabrics. Knitted fabrics are easier to roll up. This is determined by the characteristics of knitted fabrics. Knitted fabrics have hemming properties.
2. If the density of the fabric selected is not enough and the fabric of the clothes is highly elastic, the presser foot is too tight to push the edges of the clothes apart during sewing, and the loose part will form an outer hem. Use a non-woven adhesive lining to prevent the fabric from pulling apart and forming an outer roll when sewing.
After understanding the reasons for curling, let’s take a look at how to deal with it after curling:
1. You can iron with different temperature settings of the iron
2 . If you don’t have the conditions to use an iron, you can fill a cup or basin with hot water and put it on the curled edge to press it.
3. Press the curled edge with a flat and heavy object (such as a thick book like a dictionary).
The above three methods are all temporary solutions to the problem, and curling will still appear later. If possible, you can disassemble the rolled edge, wash it, then cut a piece of non-woven adhesive lining according to the width of the clothing edge, iron it firmly with an electric iron, and run it with a sewing machine. No more curling.
In the production stage of T-shirt workwear, choosing knitted fabrics with sufficient density and pasting non-woven adhesive linings on areas prone to curling can effectively avoid curling problems.
