Sponsored by the China Professional Wear Industry Association and hosted by Tianjin Jie Niao Clothing Design Center, it is a national professional organization that integrates exhibitions, brand promotion, R&D and customization, and mass sales. “China’s Famous Professional Wear Brands” “Promotion Core” was launched in Tianjin on March 27. Zhang Yuanlong, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Congress, Li Peisheng, deputy secretary-general of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, Ha Wenlong, director of the Tianjin Municipal People’s Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Xu Jingsheng, chairman of the Tianjin Nankai District CPPCC, and Guo Jianxun, executive deputy director of Tianjin Nankai District, attended the launch ceremony. Wang Yaomin, President of China Professional Clothing Industry Association, presided over the ceremony. The reporter interviewed Wang Yaomin, president of the China Workwear Association, and Wu Zenggui, director of the China Workwear Well-known Brand Promotion Center, at the launching ceremony.
Reporter: Please tell us about the original intention of establishing the China Well-known Business Wear Brand Promotion Center?
Wang Yaomin: In 1998, the first China Professional Wear Exhibition was held in Tianjin. A two-dimensional and all-round exhibition gave a new interpretation of the concept of professional attire to the whole society. After that, professional attire companies across the country sprung up everywhere. After more than ten years of development, against the background of the large-scale movement of industrial resources and technology around the world and the country, the development of Tianjin’s professional attire industry has not been perfect. In recent years, we have selected Excellent enterprises such as China’s top ten professional wear brands and top 50 enterprises hope that these leading enterprises can lead the healthy development of the entire industry. However, there are still many problems, especially from the current business attire market environment and market order, there are many problems such as disordered competition, lagging design, outdated consumption methods, and complicated sales methods. Therefore, we must establish a promotion center for famous Chinese professional wear brands to lead the healthy and orderly development of the industry. The core of promoting China’s famous business attire brands is to truly solve problems from the perspective of industry and innovation and promote the development of the business attire industry on the basis of in-depth research on the development of the industry.
The promotion center is currently a modern professional attire service organization in the country that integrates exhibition display, brand promotion, R&D and customization, and mass sales. Based on such a platform, we will promote the four major categories of Chinese business attire to the whole society through exhibitions. Although professional attire has experienced more than 10 years of development, society’s understanding of professional attire is still relatively complete. According to statistics, the application scope of business attire in China is only 30%, and there is still a lot of room for development in the market in the future. The professional attire industry is characterized by one-to-one service and users with specific needs. A small number of professional attire companies do not have strong brand awareness and insufficient publicity. Therefore, we must promote the brand of professional attire in the entire industry. The future development trend of professional wear must be an integration of high technology, functional fabrics and functional design. Without high-tech components, we can’t talk about business attire, which can only be described as ordinary work clothes. In addition, in the past, the marketization level of business attire was not high, and the prices were not shady. There were certain unspoken rules in the sales method. We are going to explore a mass-selling sales method, with coded pricing, fair competition, and standardized industry order like supermarkets.
Reporter: After more than 10 years of professional wear in China, has it also formed a complete industrial cluster? What are your thoughts on locating the “promotion center” in Tianjin this time?
Wang Yaomin: The concept of cluster is to accumulate scientific and technological strength, accumulate weak industrial resources, human resources and other factors of enterprises. The number of enterprises alone cannot represent the development direction of the industry. Therefore, our idea of creating a professional clothing industry cluster has attracted attention and attention at all levels across the country. Guide enterprises in various regions to establish clusters, which can pool industrial advantages, optimize industry resources, reduce production costs, and reduce unnecessary consumption among industrial chains. At the same time, the professional attire industry cluster also requires the integration of industry, academia and research, and the development of new products to truly enhance the company’s analytical strength.
Wu Zenggui: Settling in Tianjin Garment Street, we want to create a unique business wear trading circle with industry characteristics in China. On the one hand, Tianjin is the birthplace of professional attire in China. Since the 1998 China Workwear Exhibition, the total number of professional wear companies nationwide has soared from a few hundred in 1998 to more than 35,000 today, and Tianjin has also grown from dozens to nearly a thousand. On the other hand, we also see the huge development potential of Tianjin Binhai New Area in the future. Tianjin professional attire takes the opportunity of serving Binhai New Area to develop a modern service industry integrating the design, manufacturing, production and sales of professional attire, which has great prospects for development. Coupled with the clothing needs of enterprises and institutions in Tianjin’s suburban areas, Tianjin’s professional attire market has great room for development. It is understood from the Municipal Procurement Center that at present, most of the orders for business attire procurement in Tianjin fall into the hands of foreign companies. The city’s professional clothing companies, due to their small scale, cannot enter the sales threshold.
Reporter: What are the weak links in China’s current professional attire industry chain?
Wang Yaomin: Design and research and development are the two major bottlenecks in the current development of professional attire. More than 80% of the professional wear market lacks imagination. The purpose of our establishment of the “Promotion Center” is to help enterprises improve their design and R&D capabilities. We plan to introduce the world’s top design forces from Italy, Japan, France, etc. into professional clothing design, and at the same time build Tianjin’s clothing street system into a national-owned characteristic Professional wear professional street, Gathering top design talents and R&D capabilities from around the world, the country and Tianjin to promote the forward development of the professional wear industry.
Reporter: Compared with the development of professional attire in foreign countries, what are the advantages and disadvantages of the development of China’s professional attire industry?
Wu Zenggui: In the past, our raw material and labor costs were relatively low. Now we should consider how to use high technology to reduce costs, gather talents, and make rational use of resources, such as opening factories in rural areas, integrating strong forces, and enterprise Reorganization etc. 80% to 90% of business attire are private enterprises, and the industrial structure has many unfairnesses. Some companies think that they have trained designers, and the designers leave the company after they become famous, which makes the company feel that the gains and losses are equal. Therefore, being unwilling to train and launch your own designers and weak design strength is still a major problem in industrial development.
Reporter: How does the implementation core integrate resources to promote the development of the professional attire industry?
Wang Yaomin: Integrating resources is not a complex addition of capital, but also the adjustment and integration of concepts. What we have to do is 1+1>2. The design concepts of professional clothing in Western Europe, Japan, Italy and other countries are traditional, the craftsmanship is mature, and the quality is very good. The development history of Japanese professional attire is more than 50 years, and that of the United States is more than 80 years. Chinese professional attire has also developed rapidly in more than ten years. Therefore, we must change our thinking and change the current situation of my country’s professional attire relying on low-end imports to compete with international Integration is our future research topic. Business attire not only requires design, but also relies on technology. To a certain extent, the business attire industry is a creative industry, which is in line with the policies proposed by the current country to assist the development of modern service industries. Therefore, the “center” has received support from Tianjin City and Nankai District, and will also be integrated into the city to assist in the development and planning of modern service industries.
Wu Zenggui: Using the “core brand promotion” as a platform, we will provide new concepts and methods for professional wear companies across the country, separate market-oriented operations, introduce international and foreign conservative technologies, and serve as demonstration units for members of industry associations. It can serve as a demonstration and promote it to professional attire companies across the country through this demonstration. The promotion center has formulated cooperation plans with Italy, Japan and other countries, universities, textile research units, and design units. Secondly, we must standardize industry standards and make the market standardized and transparent. We need to establish industry standards for professional attire that fit the Chinese market. It is our historical responsibility to truly make comfortable, safe and healthy professional attire and lead the professional attire industry to a healthy and orderly development path.
Reporter: This year is the beginning of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”. What is the core’s development plan for the next five years?
Wang Yaomin: We once had a 10-year development plan. We have been formulating such a plan since 2008. Detailed discussions have been conducted on five major aspects including quality, market order, and brand promotion. Our planning is also fully in line with the development requirements of the textile and apparel industry during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”. After the coordinated efforts of the entire industry, entrepreneurs everywhere have the opposite feeling, that is, the establishment of the core is an opportunity for them.
Wu Zenggui: Our next plan is to gradually cooperate with relevant national institutions and authoritative departments to standardize the relevant standards for functional professional attire such as anti-static, radiation protection, waterproof, and oil-proof. At present, the design, production and processing of school uniforms across the country have not been standardized, and there are many styles and fabrics. Now we are cooperating and researching with relevant education departments, in accordance with the international standards of combining design diversification, rationality and functional fabrics. Through production and processing, the research, development and manufacturing of fabrics have begun to take shape. This article is copyrighted by Guerlain Business Wear.
