Usually when we go to buy clothes, we will ask the store clerk whether the clothes are pure cotton. Often we want to buy pure cotton clothes but cannot distinguish the material. Here are some simple and practical tips to share with you.

First of all, we have to distinguish between two concepts, one is pure cotton and the other is 100% cotton.

Cotton
Pure cotton fabric: Anything with more than 70% cotton is basically considered pure cotton. Most pure cotton clothes are actually blended, that is, 70% to 80% of the veil and 20% to 30% of chemical fibers (such as polyester, nylon, etc.) are blended, which can extend the service life of the fabric and make it more beautiful.

When buying clothes, we want to choose pure cotton clothes. In fact, we choose pure cotton clothes with more than 100% cotton content. Clothes made of 75% fabric, so how to judge whether a piece of clothing is pure cotton?

Tips for choosing pure cotton clothes:
1. “Stick”, that is, we can put the clothes close to our arms or It is the skin of the face. Because cotton is a natural fiber, the material is relatively soft and has good thermal insulation effect. When it is close to the skin, when the skin responds to softness and warmth, it often means that the clothing contains higher cotton content. On the contrary, if the skin responds to a silky and cool touch, it often means that the cotton content is low or it is directly made of chemical fiber;
2. “Grab”, we hold the fabric of the clothes tightly in our hands Furthermore, one of the most important characteristics of cotton is that it wrinkles easily. When we observe that the fabric of the clothes has obvious pickle-like wrinkles that are not easy to disappear after we loosen them, it means that the cotton content is high. On the contrary, because chemical fiber is made through chemical refining and then spinning, it often has better wrinkle resistance. If there are no obvious wrinkles after letting go or the wrinkles disappear after gently pulling, it means that the cotton content is relatively low;

3. “Look”. If it is a relatively thin piece of clothing, we can point the single-layer fabric at the light source and observe. Cotton is a natural fiber, and the fiber is short and easy to break, so it is not easy to make during manufacturing. It is relatively tight and rough during the process, and has poor light transmittance when observed under a light source. On the contrary, chemical fibers tend to have longer fiber lengths, greater strength, and smoother and more transparent surfaces, so chemical fiber fabrics have better light transmittance under light sources.
4. “Touch”, when we touch the fabric with our hands, pure cotton products are often softer but rougher; while chemical fiber fabrics are often smoother and stiffer.
Of course, the above four methods are convenient for everyone to judge when purchasing in the mall. If we are at home, we can also conduct combustion detection by pulling out the threads of the fabric. Cotton burning often has no smoke and burns very quickly. Fully, while chemical fiber burning is often accompanied by black smoke, and the burning products will appear similar to black lumps after burning plastic.
